Hidden away in a hill near New Taipei City’s Huilong metro (MRT) station, Lo-Sheng bears a complex history. Established in 1930, this leprosy sanatorium is over 80 years old. However, because of segregation policies adopted by the Government-General of Taiwan (or Taiwan Sotokufu - the Japanese colonial administration on the island) and the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) regime, the life stories of generations of Lo-Sheng’s inhabitants are unknown to most of the public. The Y junction leading to Lo-Sheng, one direction for people with leprosy and another direction for people without, not only separated people with leprosy from society but also seems to hide the story of Lo-Sheng from the public.
